The Tucson Garden Railway Society is a Non-Profit corporation established in 1994 and incorporated in Pima County, Arizona. TGRS club members are interested in all areas of garden and modular large-scale model railroading. Members build outdoor layouts at their homes that feature waterfalls, mountains and towns well populated with people and animals. Some feature special time periods, humor and fantasy. Tucson Garden Railway Society hosts an annual "Rails in the Garden" open house tour with at least 8 member families layouts open to the public.

Educating the public about railroads, railroad modeling and the construction and running of garden railways is a major goal of TGRS. To that end we have donated and built permanent train layouts in the Tucson Children's Museum, the Diamond Children's Medical Center, the Tucson Botanical Gardens and Tucson Medical Center. We also display non-permanent layouts at the Pima County Fair, the Veteran's Hospital, Old Tucson Studios and the UApresents Children's Festival, among others.
