The 8th Annual "Rails in the Garden" Tour will be held on
Saturday and Sunday, March 12th and 13th, 2011.
All layouts are open both days from 10am until 4pm.
The Rails in the Garden Tour is a self-guided, driving tour of eight garden railways and will also feature the Gadsden Pacific Division, Toy Train Operators Museum. For 2011 there are three garden railways that have never been on the tour in previous years as well as some annual favorites. This year’s layouts are located primarily on the west side of Tucson and you can visit all nine venues as often as you wish. Most railways on the tour have been expanded or have added features/scenes for 2011. Some of railways that will be open for viewing include:
- a large, 4000 sq. ft. old Arizona themed pike
- a railway with late steam era locomotives built by the owner
- a layout that features live steam locomotives
- an Old West themed layout
- a railway featuring busy, bustling city scenes
The diversity of the railroads and gardens promises to provide another interesting tour.
